Dairy Foods and Global Malnutrition

Malnutrition occurs in some form in every country in the world. Research has shown that dairy foods can help alleviate malnutrition by contributing essential nutrients to the diets and helping to reduce risk for type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Howver, more research is needed to establish clear associations between dairy foods and their impact on malnutrition globally. Although studies examining national datasets from the US will be considered, preference will be given to the study of non-US datasets, especially those that are nationally representative (e.g., The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey or the Mexican National Health and Nutrition Survey). Prospective cohort studies from developed or developing countries that are rigorously performed to identify dairy food consumption relative to malnutrition will also be strongly considered.

Study duration should be appropriate for the work proposed. There is no budget limit; however, the requested budget must be commensurate with the work proposed.
