Dairy food consumption and gestational health

Research has shown that dairy foods are associated with reduced risk for type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. To date, little research has been conducted to examine the relationship between dairy foods and health outcomes during pregnancy. Accordingly, National Dairy Council is seeking pre-proposal applications examining the relationship between dairy foods or specific dietary patterns that include dairy foods (e.g., milk, cheese and yogurt in the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Eating Plan) on measures of health in pregnant women. Observational analyses are recommended.
